Class Descriptions

Medina Weekday offers a variety of morning and afternoon sessions.  All classes are 2 1/2 hours in length and focus on providing a wide range of age appropriate developmental activities to enrich your child and build positive self esteem.  Listed below, are some of the many activities your child will engage in while at preschool:


Activities

Group Activities offer children the opportunity to develop social skills through group interaction with classmates & teachers while learning  about a great variety of subjects including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Music

  • Language Arts

  • Math Concepts (shapes, sizes, numbers)

  • Science (nature, animals, weights and weather)

  • Social Studies

  • Character Building

  • Prayer

  • Personal well being

 

 


Free Play allows children to choose from a variety of offerings that change throughout the year with themes and seasons.  Children have the opportunity to explore, experiment, create and manipulate while interacting with other children and teachers. 

Activities may involve:

  • Science & Writing Centers

  • Arts & Crafts

  • Hands-on Exploratory Stations

  • Play dough

  • Manipulatives

  • Blocks

  • Books

  • Imaginative play with realistic props


Physical Activities to exercise large muscles are a part of every school day.  We combine an indoor "Muscle Room" with outdoor physical activities depending on weather.  A few examples of physical activities may include:

  • Climbing

  • Tumbling

  • Balancing

  • Tricycles

  • Basketball

  • Sand Box

  • Swinging

  • Slides


Field trips are arranged for children in the 4 & 5 year old classes.  We have enjoyed many opportunities to visit or receive visits from:

  • Farm Tour, Pumpkin Patch & Hayride

  • Apple Orchard

  • Fall Walks

  • Local Parks

  • Community Outreach

  • Local Library

  • Akron Zoo

  • Visits with Community Helpers (dentists, veterinarians, fire station, postal carriers, etc.)
